Colour

One of the highlights of London Design Week, aside from our successful stint at the London Design Fair, was Farrow & Ball’s announcement of nine new colours. And we’re super excited to say that there seems to be some synergy between the new colours and our wallpaper range.

Colour is extremely important to us at KCDesign.London. Kate shoots from the hip and then spends hours refining the photographic design until it highlights visual details that most of us miss every day. It’s an organic process which continues until the spirit of the object is represented and a sense of completion is felt.

For this reason, we appreciate that the launch of new colours is big news. It’s not something that happens every day due to the complexity of the process. At Farrow & Ball, an extraordinary amount of care and attention goes into each new hue, from refining its exact shade to dreaming up the perfect name and telling the story behind the rich pigments.

All of the nine new colours, which fit seamlessly into the other 132 in the collection, have an extraordinary warmth to them. They’re more than a base for your walls, they have the ability to make you feel a sense of being ‘at home’ and relaxed as your eye takes in the comforting shade. This echoes the ethos of a KCDesign.London print, which adds a depth of atmosphere to your living space due to the organic nature of what it represents.

At the London Design Fair, people wanted to touch and stroke our wallpapers as they were captivated by the details deep inside. When you have a paper that draws everyone’s attention to it or a colour that sucks people in, you have to be careful about the other elements on the walls so that the rich, organic nature of the colour is complemented in a way that flows. Wallpaper like ours can only be complemented with colours that are carefully pigmented so everything joins together naturally.
